The Great Story: A Journey of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration

Who He Is

Jesus is the embodiment of divine love and the path to salvation.

Why He Matters

His message transforms lives and brings hope to the hopeless.

The story begins with creation—a deliberate act of love by a Creator who spoke the universe into existence.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." —Genesis 1:1"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible..." — Colossians 1:16

According to this narrative, everything was initially perfect—galaxies, stars, planets, and Earth itself, all designed with remarkable precision. The pinnacle of creation was humanity, represented by the first people called Adam and Eve, who were entrusted with caring for the world. They lived in harmony with creation, each other, and their Creator. The creation account suggests that humans have inherent value and purpose—we were intentionally designed for relationship with our Creator and with each other, and given responsibility as stewards of the Earth.

What Went Wrong: The Fall

The world we experience today is clearly not perfect. The biblical narrative explains this through what's often called "the Fall"—a pivotal moment when harmony was broken through disobedience."Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned." — Romans 5:12

According to the story, a being called Satan (portrayed as a serpent)tempted the first humans to question their Creator's goodness and rebel against the one boundary they were given. This rebellion introduced sin—a state of separation from the Creator and a distortion of everything good. The consequences were far-reaching: broken relationships, fear, guilt, shame, disease, natural disasters, and ultimately death. This explains why, despite our advances in technology and knowledge, we continue to experience suffering, injustice, and moral failure. This account provides a framework for understanding the paradox of human nature—we are capable of tremendous good yet also terrible evil. It suggests that our problems aren't merely external (education, environment, etc.) but stem from a deeper internal brokenness.

Historical Context

Jesus was born in Bethlehem around 4 BC and lived until approximately 30 AD.

Timeline Overview

Key events include His birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection.

The Saviour: Redemption. The story doesn't end with brokenness.

The biblical narrative continues with a rescue mission—a plan to restore what was lost."For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16

According to this account, Jesus Christ entered human history as the fulfillment of ancient prophecies—God himself becoming human. Through his teachings, miracles, and perfect life, he demonstrated what humanity was meant to be. His sacrificial death addressed the problem of sin, and his resurrection three days later conquered death itself."God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." — 2 Corinthians 5:21

The concept of sacrificial love is central to this story—the Creator himself experiencing human suffering and death to restore relationship with his creation. It suggests that our deepest problems cannot be solved through human effort alone but require divine intervention.

Hope

The Future: Restoration

The final chapter of this story remains to be fully realized. It speaks of a future where everything will be made new.

"Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." — Revelation 21:3-4

This hope extends to individual lives in the present. The biblical narrative claims that anyone who trusts in Christ can experience forgiveness, renewal, and restored relationship with God, beginning now and continuing eternally.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" — 2 Corinthians 5:17 This story provides hope that transcends current circumstances—suggesting that what we see now is not all there is, and that both personal and cosmic restoration are possible.
